Laser Hair Removal

3 Reasons You Should Do Laser Hair Removal

Recently, I was talking to a long time member of Skin Bar NYC. She was sad to be leaving Skin Bar but after 2 years of laser treatments she is hair free! As much as we don’t like to say good bye to our members we love to hear great success stories. You might be wondering, why would someone do laser hair removal at all let alone for two years? The reasons are plentiful, but anecdotally I can tell you there are three main reasons clients pursue laser hair removal.

Rash and irritation from shaving

Without a doubt the most popular reason clients opt for permanent laser hair removal is the aggravation and discomfort that comes with shaving. The areas most commonly shaved are the private ones, and they happen to the most sensitive ones. Millions of people have sensitive skin that reacts to the course cutting of razors. Razor bumps, rash and irritation all lead to inflammation, redness and ingrown hairs.

For many the uncomfortable feeling of razor burn and rash is bad enough, but discomfort isn’t the only downside of shaving. Razor rash and bumps doesn’t look cute and it definitely doesn’t go well with your new bikini. Razor rash can make people feel insecure in a bathing suit or sleeveless top.

The thickness and coarseness of a person’s hair is also a factor. Clients of Mediterranean and Latin decent tend to have thicker hair follicles, so even after a clean shave the follicle is still visible and my clients have told me that even though their legs feel smooth, they always felt like they had a 5 o’clock shadow. And the fellas who do laser on their backs said the exact same thing, but they were also bothered by ingrown hairs that turn unsightly and look like “backne”. Yuck!

Because laser hair removal zaps and destroys hair growth at the follicle, ingrown hairs and 5 o’clock shadows are vanquished for good. Laser hair removal truly gets to the source of the problem and eliminates it, permanently. Say good bye to bumps, rash and irritation for good with laser hair removal.

Convenience

Have you ever thought about the time you spend shaving, waxing and plucking? We have. The average person shaves 2 areas of the face or body 3 times a week. Every session of personal grooming lasts an average of ten minutes. So, ten minutes, three times a week equals, 30 minutes. Now multiply that by the number of weeks in a year and the average time a person spends on personal grooming is a whopping 26 hours!

What would you do with that time? At Skin Bar NYC, we can help you take that time back. Laser hair removal permanently removes 70% to 90% of hair in as little as 6 treatments. Most of our clients start slow with one area of laser hair removal. Under arms is a popular first area to treat. When our clients see how smooth their skin is after just a couple of treatments they almost always begin a new area. And before you know it, I’m having another conversation with a very satisfied and hair free client.

The issue of cost

Like most things in life cost is always a consideration. Laser hair removal is not inexpensive when your opting for high quality and reliable results. But, while the upfront cost is more than a pack of razors, over time you’re gonna save thousands of dollars. Here’s how:

Laser hair removal is permanent so we’re going to look at cost over a lifetime. The average person spends $10,000 on shaving products in a lifetime. That’s a lot of money. The cost of 6 laser hair removal sessions (one membership) for a half leg is $534 and takes about 30 minutes per treatment. So, in less than 3 hours you can be hair free for life. Just the savings in time is enough to make laser hair removal worth the investment. Depending on the area and your treatment goals for laser hair removal you can save on average $3,000 to $8,500.

Waxing is another very popular hair removal method. It’s popular because it reduces rash and redness associated with ingrown hair, but it isn’t permanent. And it hurts! Well so does laser, you may be thinking. Yes, but laser is permanent.

One treatment of half leg waxing costs $65 at Bliss spa in midtown Manhattan. Waxing is recommended every three weeks. In a single year your gonna pay $1,125.00. Multiply that number each year for the rest of your life and you can see that waxing is a hefty proposition. At Skin Bar NYC, the same treatment will cost you $89 and after an average of 6 treatments the area will be hair free for good.

So, regardless of your reason for considering laser, chances are there is one here that you haven’t even considered. It’s no wonder that laser hair removal is so popular. Permanently smooth, hair free, stubble free and rash free all for a fraction of what you are spending on your current hair maintenance.
