Audrey Or Lily?!

This Woman Crush Wednesday, #WCW, we’re focusing on Lily Collins. We think of her as the modern day Audrey Hepburn. Beauty regimes have changed considerably in the past 60 years, but Lily still bears a striking resemblance. Is it her natural complexion? Her beauty regime? What do both Audrey and Lilly do to look so good?

Audrey famously once said when asked her beauty regime “For attractive lips, speak words of kindness, for lovely eyes, seek out the good in people…”

Both Audrey and Lilly are most definitely humble people, blessed with naturally good complexions and striking features, but also have a few beauty tricks that help them to look their best.

A Simple Routine Before Bed

Lilly listens to her mom’s wise words and cleans her face before going to bed! Why? This helps to remove the dirt your skin has accumulated throughout the day and unclog pores. Be sure to use a makeup remover, simple cleanser and moisturize.

A Steam Facial Twice A Week

Audrey was known to swear by a steam facial, twice a week to keep her skin looking revived, healthy and clear of blemishes. We recommend you follow these simple steps:

  • Put a plug in your bathroom sink
  • Fill with boiling water
  • Stand over the sink (with a towel over your head to keep the steam from escaping)
  • Remain there for approximately 2-5 minutes allowing the steam to rise into your open pores
  • Rinse with cool water to close your pores
  • Gently pat dry
  • Moisturize

Protect Yourself From The Sun

It is one of the most well known, and most important steps in an anti-aging beauty regime. Even when it’s cloudy outside harmful UV rays from the sun can still damage your skin, leading to sun damage and wrinkles. Both Audrey and Lilly swear by using sunscreen or foundation containing SPF 30 or higher, to ensure their skin is protected. Fancy adding a bit of glamour to your look? A big hat or colorful umbrella is a great way to be both stylish and safe.

Moisturize, Hydrate, And Moisturize!

Lilly has said multiple times that “Hydration is the key to fresh-looking skin – I learnt that from working with Julia Roberts, whose skin is radiant, on the set of Mirror Mirror.” Ensure your skin is getting the hydration it needs from the outside and the inside! Drinking plenty of water is a well known beauty secret, and key to ensuring your skin has a healthy and youthful glow. Be sure to hydrate from the outside with a gentle moisturizer.

Big And Bold Brows

Both Audrey and Lilly are known for their bold eyebrows. They are beautiful and on trend so rock them!

Enhance Your Eyes

Audrey Hepburn was known for wearing very little makeup apart from moisturizer, red lipstick and of course mascara. Her huge eyes were emphasized by lashings of mascara – she famously used to use a pin to separate each of her lashes after applying mascara. Luckily nowadays make up has improved and a simple non-clumping mascara should do the trick!

Topped Off With A Dash Of Lippy’

Both Audrey and Lilly let their lips do the talking. An easy way to spice up any look, red lipstick gives your face an instant lift! Match it to your outfit and you look oh-so chic.
