The Benefits of Diamond Dermabrasion

Even the most diligent skincare junkies aren’t immune to dull, tired skin from time to time. The buildup of dead cells, oil, and dirt are just a few of the culprits that can cause one’s skin to lose its luster. I’ll be the first one to admit that I’m pretty much a skincare addict. I use all kinds of products that promise to give me a gorgeous complexion but even the best skincare routine in the world isn’t complete without regular visits to the spa. Whether you’re a skincare newbie or a veteran like me, sometimes the TLC our skin needs goes beyond what we can do at home. That’s when it’s time to sit back, relax, and let professionals work their magic. If a glowing complexion is what you’re looking for (and aren’t we all?) Diamond Dermabrasion might be your new best friend because it provides a deep form of exfoliation that gives skin a healthy, fresh start.

Diamond Vs. Micro Dermabrasion

If you’re familiar with Microdermabrasion you might be wondering how it differs from Diamond Dermabrasion. Here’s the gist. Microdermabrasion works by blasting tiny crystals onto the surface of the skin. Then, a tool is used to vacuum them away along with unwanted debris and grime. That sounds pretty good, right? Well, yes and no. Sure, Microdermabrasion does a pretty good job of exfoliating but it’s a little old school because it can be messy. This makes it difficult to treat the contours of the face like the nose and eye areas. Simply put, Microderm is a good treatment but it’s no match compared to Diamond Dermabrasion.

Diamond Dermabrasion employs a stainless steel diamond-tipped wand that vacuums away impurities in order to clear pores and remove dirt, oil, and dead skin cells. Usually, two passes are made over each area of the skin to ensure no debris is left behind. Due to its ability to deeply exfoliate all areas of the face, including its contours, patients receive a much more complete treatment. As a bonus, this method of mechanical exfoliation (opposed to chemical exfoliation in the form of peels or topical products) also works on a deeper level by stimulating blood flow underneath the skin. This helps to reduce fine lines and promotes the production of collagen.

What’s In This Service?

At Skin Bar, this treatment comes complete with all the benefits of a facial. First, your skin is thoroughly cleansed. Then, the diamond-tipped wand will be painlessly passed over your skin. This feels a little bit like having very gentle sandpaper rubbed against your face in small, straight strokes. It actually feels quite refreshing. After the wand is used to make two passes, your skintician will apply a soothing mask filled with nourishing vitamins and you’ll be treated to a relaxing massage. After just one Diamond Dermabrasion treatment you’ll be left with a beautiful, impurity-free complexion and a long-lasting glow.

Who Is A Good Candidate For Diamond Dermabrasion?

This facial can be done all year around and it’s gentle enough to incorporate into your skincare routine every three to four weeks to keep your skin healthy and radiant. If you have active acne or sensitive skin this isn’t the right treatment for you so it’s best to talk to your Skintician about what other options you have if you want to achieve similar results. A series of Diamond Dermabrasion treatments can also be used to address hyperpigmentation, discoloration, and mild acne scarring.

Hey “Skinbers”! Diamond Dermabrasion add-on is this month’s member benefit. Diamond Dermabrasion can be added to any facial and some laser treatments for an added boost of exfoliation that will extend the results of your service and keep you glowing! This $40 add-on service is FREE all month long.
