Fraxel Dual- How many do I need to achieve my goals?

If you are considering Fraxel, the 3 things you need to know are:

  1. Fraxel Dual results require more than 1 treatment. Unless you’re doing maintenance.

  2. Fraxel Dual takes time. Plan 2-5 months to achieve ideal results.

  3. Fraxel isn’t cheap, but the results are worth the investment. Just make sure you aren’t over paying.

Most clients who come looking for Fraxel have heard it works where other treatments have failed. Their friend or a family member might have mentioned that they had Fraxel and liked the improvement they experienced afterwards. Others have had a doctor recommend it to them. And still others find Fraxel when they research for a skin care treatment that can help them look more youthful or correct a specific problem.

Beyond having heard that Fraxel might be a good option for their skin care goals, most people don’t know how many Fraxels it will take to achieve their goals, and quite a few think doing 1 Fraxel will solve everything.

The truth is Fraxel does an amazing job at correcting a lot of skin care problems, and Fraxel can help most people achieve their skin care goals. But, most people will need more than 1 treatment to do it. Unless they are doing a maintenance treatment.

How many treatments it takes to reach a specific goal?

Here is a quick guide to help determine how many treatments of Fraxel one one may need. How long it will take to achieve the goal. And how much achieving this goal will cost financially.

Fraxel can treat a multitude of things from surface conditions like uneven skin tone, rough texture, sun damage and hyperpigmentation.

Fraxel can also correct deeper issues like fine lines, wrinkles and even deep acne scars.

And because it has a unique dual laser inside it can treat these conditions simultaneously. But, for more advanced signs of aging or significant surface conditions it is usually best to treat these issues separately.

How many treatments do I need to correct surface conditions?

If you have a lot of sun damage or hyperpigmentation then you will need 2-3 Fraxel Duals performed with the 1927 wavelength. The 1927 wavelength gives us the ability to target the laser energy at the precise superficial level where the damage is located in the skin.

The previous generation of Fraxel was not as precise and typically shot beyond the layer of damaged tissue. As a consequence the client typically required more treatments to achieve their desired outcome. The Fraxel Dual changed all that. Today results are noticeable just a few days after the first treatment.

Deeper conditions like fine lines and wrinkles need 3-4 Fraxel treatments. For this correction we use the 1550 wavelength as it penetrates deeper into the skin to stimulate collagen production by activating the body’s natural healing process. When this happens fine lines and wrinkles fill in and are dramatically reduced. Additionally, the overall health and quality of the skin is improved. The face appears brighter, smoother, and more even. Results can take 3-4 weeks. And improvement continues for about 90 days before you see the final result.

Acne scars are treated with the 1550 laser to build up the uneven layers of skin and smooth the skin out. This correction usually requires 3-5 treatments. And just like with wrinkles, the final results will appear after 90 days of the last treatment.

How long will this process take?

Skin Bar NYC has performed thousands of Fraxel treatments over the last decade and every client we treat sees results after the first treatment. And the results continue to improve with each subsequent treatment until we reach peak results and our final outcome.

But, results with Fraxel don’t happen overnight. The Fraxel laser is a powerful laser that is remodeling your skin from the inside out, a fraction of the skin at a time (that’s how the name Fraxel was derived). The power delivered is basically a controlled burn and your skin will need some time to recover from that. Fraxel is typically done once each month. This gives the skin time to calm down, heal and recover before the next treatment. So, depending on what your treating you can expect the process to look like this:

2-3 months for surface conditions like uneven skin tone, rough texture, sun damage and hyperpigmentation.

3-4 months for deeper issues like fine lines and wrinkles.

3-5 months for acne scars.

These timeframes may surprise many of you, but consider that a lifetime of aging and damage can be virtually erased in 6 months, without any surgery or needles, and minimal downtime. It’s actually pretty amazing.

There are other benefits to this process not happening overnight. This process is subtle and cumulative. Each month you’ll watch your skin look younger, brighter and healthier. And you won’t be the only one to notice. Most people don’t realize that you’re having laser skin rejuvenation, but they are sure to notice that you are looking different. Many of our clients report that their family and friends comment on how good their skin looks well before they have their last treatment. So remember, good things come to those who are patient.

How much will this cost me?

Fraxel is not inexpensive. The average price of a single Fraxel Dual in NYC is typically $1500 for 1 treatment on the face. Most skin care clinics offer a discount for multiple treatments like the ones we’ve discussed above. Generally a 20% discount is applied to most packages. So, expect to invest about $3,600 for a package 3 of Fraxel dual treatments in New York City.

Skin Bar NYC’s rate for a package of 3 Fraxel duals is about $1,000 less. A significant savings compared to most other providers in New York City. How can we charge so much less? It’s simple- we don’t pay for expensive advertising. We pass those savings on to our clients. And 80% of our new clients come from referral.
