SS Microneedling

Microneedling, also called Collagen Induction Therapy, has become a go-to solution for those seeking radiant, rejuvenated skin. This cosmetic treatment has recently been made popular by celebrities and what seems like endless endorsements on social media. At Skin Bar NYC, Microneedling has become hugely popular with New York City clients for one reason. It works!

And it works to improve so many skin conditions related to aging. But, not just aging. Microneedling works really well for acne scars too. Particularly in combination with Fraxel Dual.

What Does Microneedling do?

Microneedling is a minimally invasive procedure that involves using tiny, sterile needles to create controlled micro-channels in the skin. These micro-channels stimulate the body's natural healing response, triggering the production of collagen and elastin, two key proteins responsible for maintaining the skin's firmness, elasticity, and youthful glow. By harnessing the power of your body's own regenerative abilities, microneedling can effectively address a wide range of skin concerns, including wrinkles, fine lines, hyperpigmentation, and even acne scars. Let's delve deeper into how this remarkable treatment works and why it has become a go-to solution for those seeking radiant, rejuvenated skin.

What are the benefits of Microneedling?

By understanding your unique skin concerns and goals, as an esthetician, I can tailor the microneedling treatment to best suit your needs. Whether you're looking to prevent aging, reverse its signs, or correct acne scarring, microneedling is a versatile and effective solution that can help you achieve the radiant and youthful skin you desire.

  1. 1
Preventing Aging: Microneedling is an excellent preventive treatment for clients who wish to maintain a youthful appearance and delay the visible signs of aging. By stimulating collagen and elastin production, microneedling helps to keep the skin firm, plump, and resilient. Regular sessions can improve skin texture, minimize the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, and promote a radiant complexion. With microneedling, you can proactively preserve your skin's youthfulness and enjoy long-term benefits.
  2. 2
Reversing the Signs of Aging: If you're already experiencing signs of aging, microneedling can be a game-changer. The controlled micro-injuries created during the treatment stimulate collagen and elastin production, which helps to repair damaged skin and reduce the appearance of wrinkles, fine lines, and sagging. Over time, microneedling can help restore a more youthful and rejuvenated complexion, promoting a smoother, tighter, and more even skin tone.
  3. 3
Correcting Acne Scarring: Microneedling is also highly effective in addressing acne scarring. The tiny needles penetrate the skin's surface, promoting the formation of new collagen and elastin fibers that can help improve the texture and appearance of acne scars. This process encourages the skin to regenerate and heal, resulting in a smoother and more refined complexion. With consistent microneedling treatments, clients can experience significant reduction in the visibility of acne scars, leading to improved skin confidence.

Who is a Good Candidate for Microneedling?

Good candidates for microneedling include clients who are proactive about maintaining a youthful appearance and want to prevent the visible signs of aging from developing. It is also suitable for clients who are already experiencing wrinkles, fine lines, and sagging skin, and wish to reverse these signs to achieve a more youthful and rejuvenated complexion. Additionally, individuals with acne scarring who desire a smoother and more refined skin texture can benefit from microneedling's ability to stimulate collagen production and promote scar reduction.

Is There More Than One Kind of Microneedling to Choose From?

Microneedling has evolved over the years, and today there are different types of microneedling techniques available, each offering unique benefits and targeting specific skin concerns. Let's explore some of the most popular types of microneedling treatments:

  1. 1
Traditional Microneedling: Also known as collagen induction therapy, traditional microneedling involves using a handheld device with fine needles to create controlled micro-injuries on the skin's surface. This stimulates collagen and elastin production, promoting skin rejuvenation and improving overall skin texture and appearance. Traditional microneedling is versatile and can be performed on various areas of the face and body.
  2. 2
Automated Microneedling: Automated microneedling, also referred to as electronic or motorized microneedling, employs a specialized device that rapidly oscillates or stamps the needles into the skin. This automated process ensures precise and consistent needle penetration, enhancing the effectiveness of the treatment. Automated microneedling can be adjusted to different depths, making it suitable for addressing different skin concerns, including fine lines, wrinkles, and acne scars.
  3. 3
Microneedling with Radiofrequency (RF): This advanced technique combines the benefits of microneedling with the skin-tightening effects of radiofrequency energy. The device used in this procedure delivers both microneedles and RF energy to the skin. The needles create microchannels, while the RF energy heats the deeper layers of the skin, stimulating collagen production and tightening the skin. Microneedling with RF is highly effective in reducing wrinkles, improving skin laxity, and enhancing overall skin texture.
  4. 4
Microneedling with Growth Factors or Serums: In this variation of microneedling, topical growth factors or serums are applied to the skin before or after the microneedling procedure. The tiny channels created by the microneedles allow for better absorption of these beneficial substances into the skin, maximizing their effects. This combination helps nourish and hydrate the skin, enhance collagen synthesis, and improve overall skin health and radiance

What Kind of Microneedling is Offered at Skin Bar NYC?

We have spent the last twelve years perfecting antiaging treatments. Microneedling is one of the primary tools we sue to combat aging and correct acne scars. Over the years we have tested all four types of microneedling options available on the market. (See list above)

We have found the best, most predictable results are achieved with automated Microneedling in conjunction with Growth factor serums. We call it SS Microneedling. The SS stands for Super Serums. The automation of our device ensures uniform penetration and channel creation on the entire treatment area. But, the Super Serums are really the star of the show.

You see, microneedling by itself is a great treatment because alone it wakes up the bodies production of those two proteins critical for a youthful appearance- collagen and elastin.

But, when you add growth serums immediately after the channels are created serums can reach the deeper layers, where they interact with the skin cells. Growth factors are proteins that act as messengers, signaling the cells to increase collagen and elastin production, stimulate cell turnover, and promote overall skin rejuvenation. They help to improve the skin's texture, firmness, and elasticity, resulting in a more youthful and plump appearance.

In addition to growth factors, our growth serum contains peptides, which are chains of amino acids that support collagen synthesis and provide anti-aging benefits. Peptides help to reduce the appearance of wrinkles, fine lines, and sagging skin by improving the skin's elasticity and promoting a smoother complexion.

Our growth serums also include other beneficial ingredients like antioxidants, hyaluronic acid, vitamins, and botanical extracts. These ingredients work together to nourish and hydrate the skin, protect it from environmental damage, and provide faster healing. That means less downtime!

What Should You Expect During the Microneedling Treatment at Skin Bar NYC?

Your skincare expert will begin by cleansing your skin to remove any impurities and prepare it for the procedure. A topical numbing cream is applied to ensure your comfort during the treatment. The skincare expert will then use our automated microneedling machine, equipped with tiny, sterile needles to create controlled, uniform micro-channels on the targeted areas of your skin. You will hear the buzzing of the machine and feel vibration and a slight tingling or prickling sensation, the procedure is generally well-tolerated.

Throughout the treatment, your esthetician will perform several passes on each area of the skin all the while ensuring proper pressure and depth of penetration. Target areas are treated with as many as 7 passes. This creates more channels and allows for better penetration of the Super Serums.

Super serums are applied immediately following the completion of each area. The forehead is an area. Each cheek is an area and so on. This ensures immediate penetration.

Afterwards, a soothing mask is applied to calm the skin and enhance the healing process. Followed by LED light therapy to calm the skin. Your esthetician will provide you with detailed post-treatment instructions and recommend appropriate skincare products to optimize the results. Overall, you can expect a two hour visit and can resume normal activities

I cannot recommend the Skin Bar team highly enough! (microneedling has been a game changer for me). The equipment is top-of-the-line. And everyone in the office is exceptionally friendly. I could go on with the compliments, but I think most people get it by now -- I'm a pretty big fan of these guys.
